Education and Justice: Addressing Racism, Cyberbullying and the Inequities in Our School Communities
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Westchester Alumnae Chapter's Social Action Committee, in partnership with the NAACP White Plains/Greenburgh Education Committee, invites you to join us for a thought-provoking discussion on Education and Justice: Addressing Racism, Cyberbullying and the Inequities in Our School Communities.
Education Week reports that since school has gone virtual, classrooms around the country have been interrupted by "Zoomraiders" who shout obscenities or share sexual or racist content in the middle of an online class or school program. The same has been happening here in our Westchester County schools and the learning environments have been greatly impacted. We are calling on school administrators and law enforcement to act swiftly in protecting our students and teachers.
The esteemed panel will discuss the challenges students, teachers, and parents have faced during this pandemic school year. Additionally, they will offer guidance on reporting and preventing zoombombing/virtual disruptions and maintaining your well-being inside and outside the classroom.
Panelists:
Hon. Jamaal Bowman, U.S. Congressman (NY)
Wade Hardy, Deputy Chief Criminal Investigator- Westchester County District Attorney's Office
Dr. Rana Hobson, NY State Certified School Psychologist
Susan Bailey - Retired Educator
Phoenix Harper - Student/ President, NAACP White Plains/Greenburgh - Youth Division
